Song of the Enchantress

This is the story of Pearl, Princess of Frisland and daughter of the legendary hero King Ivan. She trained her entire life to be an adventurer, but has never been on a real quest before. Her father wants her to start out small and work her way up before doing anything dangerous. 

Sometimes, things don't work out the way we'd like.

Song of the Enchantress is a turn-based RPG in the style of Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy. There are quests, monsters, dungeons, treasures, laughs, tears, and maybe a few surprises. The overall story will remain the same regardless of how you play the game, but many details (some large and some small) will change depending on your choices. If you count optional dungeons and quests, this game should take between 20 and 30 hours to complete.

When designing this adventure, I drew inspiration from everything that I love about my favourite video games. This has been one of the most satisfying experiences of my life, and I hope that you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Yet, as hard as I worked on this game, I never would’ve been able to do it alone. I’ve relied heavily on the resources--including graphics, sound, and code--from other talented individuals. I have credited them in both the ending credits and in the documentation that accompanies this download. I’ve tried to keep track of who I borrowed from and to credit them accordingly, but if you are aware of anyone I’ve left out by mistake, please let me know and I’ll be sure to update the game and the documents to provide proper credit.

I wanted to create something fun, but there are moments in this game that some might find upsetting. A list of potential triggers is included in a separate PDF file.

If you notice any issues with this game (including glitches, plot holes, text errors, or inconsistencies), please let me know. I've changed a number of characters' and items' names during development. I tried to go through all the text and make sure everything is consistent, but there is a lot of text in this game, so if you notice anything that has slipped through, please let me know!
